How to Apply for Visiting Approval at Iowa Medical and Classification Center (IMCC)
Visiting someone at IMCC starts with one required step: getting approved by the Iowa Department of Corrections. Once you know what to submit and where to send it, it's straightforward.
Before you can visit in person or have a video call with someone at Iowa Medical and Classification Center (IMCC), you need approval from the Iowa Department of Corrections. Show up without it? You won't get past the front desk.
Adults must submit their own visitor application. Each person is approved individually - don't assume one application covers a spouse, partner, or anyone else in your group.
Kids under 18 don't submit their own applications. Instead, a parent or legal guardian lists them on their Visitor Application. That's how minors get considered for approval.
Note: Electronic visitor applications are not accepted. Your application must be printed, signed, and mailed.
Fill out the Visitor Application, print it, and sign it. Then mail it to: Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility Attn: Central Records 1200 E. Washington St. Mount Pleasant, IA 52641
Questions while filling out the application? Call Centralized Visiting at (319) 385-9511. You can also check the Iowa DOC Visiting Policy if you're unsure how to complete any section.
Denied? You can appeal in writing. Keep it clear and factual, and include any information that supports why you should be approved. Send your appeal to: Central Visiting Authority Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility 1200 E. Washington St. Mount Pleasant, IA 52641
Once approved, you'll schedule visits through the Ameelio App. Both in-person and video visits are arranged there - approval is what unlocks scheduling.
