Sending Books and Magazines to J. Reuben Long Detention Center: Publisher, Format, and Size Rules
You can send books and magazines to J. Reuben Long Detention Center, but only if they meet the jail's rules on source, condition, and format. Follow these guidelines to keep your package from getting rejected or sent back.
J. Reuben Long Detention Center accepts books and magazines, but the rules are strict. Publications must be new, in an approved format, and shipped in a way staff can process safely. The biggest reason packages get rejected? The source. Items from second-hand publishers or second-hand distribution centers aren't allowed - they'll be returned to sender.
You can mail up to three publications per shipment, but the limit is one shipment per week.
Publications must come from a publisher or a nationally recognized distributor. A family member or friend needs to purchase the item specifically for direct delivery to the inmate. Anything from a second-hand distribution center or second-hand publisher won't be authorized - expect it to come back to you.
