Phone & Electronic Messaging at Jackson County Jail: Setup and What to Expect

Telephone access runs daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. If you're waiting for a call, that's your window.

All calls from the jail are outgoing only. They're placed either as collect calls billed to your home phone service, or through a SMART pre-paid inmate debit account (often called Prepaid Collect or PIN Debit) that you can fund ahead of time.

1. Choose how you want to set it up: Create an account at SmartJailMail.com, or call Smart customer care at 1-888-843-1972.
2. Select the account type you need: Ask about setting up a telephone Prepaid Collect or PIN Debit account for the inmate.
3. Add funds to the account: Once the account is created, fund it so the inmate can place calls using the SMART prepaid option.

Jackson County Jail also offers SmartJailMail electronic messaging. Through this system, friends and family can send electronic messages and photographs directly to an inmate.
