How to Get on the Active Visitor List at Jackson County Jail

Every AIC (adult in custody) at Jackson County Jail maintains an Active Visitor List. This list holds up to 10 people who are approved to visit. Once it's full, someone has to come off before anyone new can be added.

Only the AIC can update their visitor list. If you need to be added - or if someone needs to be removed to make space - the AIC has to request that change through official correspondence. Friends and family can't modify the list themselves.

No name on the list, no visit. Jackson County Jail enforces this without exceptions. Confirm you're on the list before making the trip.

1. Ask the AIC to add you through official correspondence - names on the Active Visitor List can only be changed by the AIC, and it has to be done through official correspondence.
2. Don’t show up expecting an exception - if you’re not on the list, you won’t be allowed a visit, and the jail does not make exceptions.
3. Wait to plan your visit until you’re sure you’re listed - because the list is enforced at the door, it’s best to confirm you’ve been added before you arrange transportation, childcare, or time off work.

Children count toward the 10-person limit just like adults. If several family members want to visit, coordinate with the AIC ahead of time to make sure the list includes everyone who's likely to come.

• ✓ The AIC’s list isn’t already at the 10-person limit (including any children who are listed)
• ✓ If you’re an adult, you have photo identification with you
• ✓ You are not currently on probation or parole
• ✓ You have not been incarcerated in this facility within the past 12 months
• ✓ You understand that if you’re not on the list, you will not be allowed to visit
