How to Set Up Your TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler Account (for Allred Unit Visitors)

Visiting someone at the James W. Allred Unit? Your first step is setting up a TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler account. Once that's done, you can add the inmate to your profile and start requesting visits.

You have to create your own TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler account. TDCJ staff cannot do it for you. Once your account exists, staff can help update things like your name or address. But the initial setup is on you.

Note: Inmate visitation at each TDCJ unit is managed under the direction of the unit warden and must follow TDCJ visitation rules and guidelines.

  1. Click “Create an Account” and enter your email: Use a valid email address, then submit it.
  2. Open the registration email and use the 7-digit validation code: After you submit your email, TDCJ sends a message with a link and a 7-digit validation code.
  3. Follow the link (or enter the code) to continue registration: The code is part of the email validation step and is required to move forward with creating your account.

During registration, you'll hit the Background Questionnaire. Every question must be answered. The system won't let you move forward until the questionnaire is complete.

  • Answer every question on the Background Questionnaire (no blanks)
  • Review your responses before submitting
  • Submit the questionnaire so you can proceed to the next step

Next up is your Visitor Profile. Fill in all required fields (the ones marked with an asterisk). Watch the phone number field closely: it needs to be entered with spaces and no dashes, like this: XXX XXX XXXX.

Common fix: If your phone number won't save, retype it using spaces only (example: 555 123 4567). No dashes.

  1. Go to the option to add an inmate from your profile: This is something you, the visitor, must do from your own account.
  2. Choose how you want to search (TDCJ number or SID): The scheduler allows you to search by either one.
  3. Enter the inmate’s 8-digit TDCJ or SID number: The number must be 8 digits in length.
  4. Select your relationship: If the search finds the correct person, choose your relationship from the dropdown.
  5. Submit the request: Once submitted, your relationship selection is tied to that inmate entry on your profile.

The scheduler requires an 8-digit number when adding an inmate, so count the digits before you hit submit. Not sure of the inmate's TDCJ or SID number? Look it up using the TDCJ Offender Search on the TDCJ website, then come back and enter the 8-digit number.

Reminder: Double-check the inmate's 8-digit TDCJ or SID number before submitting. One wrong digit and the search won't find the right person.

Troubleshooting

  • If you’re stuck at registration, confirm you received the email with the link and the 7-digit validation code
  • If the Background Questionnaire won’t let you continue, make sure every question is answered
  • If your Visitor Profile won’t accept your phone number, use this exact format with spaces and no dashes: XXX XXX XXXX

Can't find the inmate when you try to add them? Focus on the search details. The TDCJ or SID number must be exactly 8 digits, and the scheduler lets you search by either ID type. Re-enter the number carefully, run the search again, and select your relationship if the correct person appears.
