Understanding Allred Unit's Visiting Schedule: Cycles, Hours, and Extended Visits
Allred Unit visitation runs on a weekly cycle, and that cycle determines how often an eligible inmate can receive visitors. Once you understand the cycle dates, weekend hours, and extended visit options, planning your trip gets much easier.
Allred Unit organizes visitation by weekly cycles. Each cycle starts Monday and ends the following Sunday. The unit uses this Monday-to-Sunday window when counting visit frequency - so even if you only visit on weekends, think in terms of weeks.
Normal visiting hours are Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Pick your day within that weekend window, then plan around the visit-length rules below.
Eligible inmates can receive one visit per cycle. Since cycles run Monday through Sunday, that usually means one visit per week. Coordinating with other family members? Keep this limit in mind so you don't accidentally schedule two trips in the same cycle.
Custody level matters too. Inmates in custody levels G1, J1, and J2 are allowed one contact visit per week. In practice, this lines up with the one-per-cycle schedule most families already plan around - but knowing the terminology helps if you're checking paperwork or discussing rules with your loved one.
A regular visit lasts two hours. The clock starts when both the inmate and visitor(s) are present - not when you arrive at the unit. Your two hours begin once everyone is actually together.
Traveling a long way? Extended visits may be an option. The warden (or designee) can approve extended visits for visitors traveling more than 250 miles one way, as long as time and space allow.
Approved extended visits can last up to four hours - double the standard two-hour period. If you're driving in from far away, that extra time together makes a real difference.
