Before sending funds, confirm you're eligible. You must be on the recipient's approved visitor list to use any payment method. If you aren't approved yet, your payment won't go through - handle this first.

  1. Get the Visitation Request Form - Use the Georgia Department of Corrections visitation page to download the Visitation Request Form.
  2. Fill it out completely - Complete the form with the requested information so it can be reviewed without delays.
  3. Submit it to the facility where your loved one is incarcerated - Send the completed Visitation Request Form to the facility for approval.
  4. Wait for approval before sending money - Once you’re on the approved visitor list, you can use the available payment methods.

JPay lets you send money online. Fees vary by amount - for transfers between $0.01–$20.00, expect a $3.50 fee per transaction. Send $20, and you'll pay $23.50 total ($20 to them plus the $3.50 fee). Send $10, and your total comes to $13.50.

Budget tip: JPay also lists video visitation at $3.95 for a 30-minute session, which is separate from money-transfer fees.

  1. Create the free money order voucher - Use the GDC tool to generate the voucher.
  2. Print the voucher - You’ll need a printed copy to mail in.
  3. Fill out the voucher - Complete the voucher details so the funds can be credited correctly.
  4. Buy a money order - Purchase a money order for the amount you want to send.
  5. Mail the voucher and money order - Send them in by mail as directed through the voucher process.

Mail takes longer than online deposits. If you use the free GDC money order voucher method, plan for up to two weeks for delivery and processing.
