Photo checklist: what you can (and can't) send to someone at Jefferson County / HCSO facilities
Personal mail to Jefferson County / HCSO facilities - including photos - goes to the Securus Digital Mail Center first. Staff there review everything for compliance, then scan approved items so the person can view them digitally. Original prints aren't delivered.

- ✓ Keep each photo 5" x 7" or smaller
- ✓ Send no more than 10 photographs per package
- ✓ Only send paper items that can be scanned (no objects or “extras”)
- ✓ Make sure nothing in the envelope is larger than 8.5" x 11"
Note: Anything that’s not paper - or any paper that’s bigger than 8.5" x 11" - won’t be accepted for scanning and may be returned to you.
Size isn't the only factor - content matters too. Photos get rejected if they're offensive, sexual, or show gang references. Pictures with guns, drugs, or drug paraphernalia won't make it through either. Check backgrounds carefully before sending; that bong on a shelf or poster in the corner could get your whole envelope rejected.
Send something that's not allowed, and the facility treats it as contraband. The entire package - not just the problem item - can be confiscated and disposed of. Packages, certified mail, checks, and money orders aren't accepted either; they'll be returned to you.
Important: One unauthorized item can cost you the whole envelope. If something's flagged as contraband, staff may confiscate and dispose of everything inside - photos included.
