Mailing Money Orders to Jefferson Parish Jail: What to Write and How Long It Takes

JPCC only accepts money orders by mail. Personal checks won't work. If you send anything other than a money order, expect it to be rejected or delayed.

You'll need your loved one's CCN number. JPCC uses it to route funds to the correct inmate account. A missing or incorrect CCN is one of the fastest ways to create a delay.

Mail the money order to: JPCC Inmate Housing Area, P.O. Box 388, Gretna, LA 70053. On the envelope, include the inmate's name at incarceration, CCN, dorm, and cell/bed (if known). Make sure you add your return address too.

Money orders don't post the moment USPS delivers them. Processing takes 1 to 3 business days after delivery, so factor in both mail transit time and the facility's processing before you expect the funds to appear.

Follow Up

• ✓ Keep your money order receipt and any USPS tracking or mailing receipt.
• ✓ Confirm the date USPS shows it was delivered (if you mailed it with tracking).
• ✓ Wait 1 to 3 business days after delivery for JPCC to process it.
