How to Get Approved as a Visitor at Jenkins Corrections Center

Before you can schedule a visit at Jenkins Corrections Center, you have to be approved as a visitor. That approval starts with paperwork: you’ll need to complete the Visitation Request Form and submit it to the facility where your loved one is incarcerated.

How to Get Approved as a Visitor at Jenkins Corrections Center

Start with the Visitation Request Form. Fill it out completely and submit it to the facility where your loved one is housed - this is what the facility uses to decide whether to approve you. Once you're approved, you'll use the same system to request specific visit dates.

  • Complete the Visitation Request Form
  • Submit the completed form to the facility where the inmate is incarcerated

Note: Approval comes before scheduling. You can't pick a visit time until you've submitted the Visitation Request Form and been approved.

Who can get approved depends on your relationship to the offender. Immediate family members - parents, siblings, spouse, grandparents, grandchildren, and children - can be requested by the offender for visitation approval.

Not immediate family? You may still qualify as a "Significant Relationship Visitor." This category covers step-parents, step-siblings, in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, half-siblings, nephews, nieces, step-children, friends, employers, and pastors - people who may support rehabilitation. For this category, the offender must initiate the request and complete the "Significant Relationship Visitor Application for Visitation Privilege." That application then goes to the Warden/Superintendent for review.

Note: Be ready to show documents that support the relationship if you’re asked - especially when the request is for a Significant Relationship Visitor.

Once the Significant Relationship Visitor application is submitted, the Warden/Superintendent reviews it. Their decision determines whether you're granted visitation privileges.

After you're approved, request your visit through the department's visitation request form. That's how you get on the schedule for a specific date and time.

  1. Submit weekend visit requests by the Wednesday cutoff - For weekend visits, the cutoff time to request visitation is 5:00 PM on Wednesday of the same week.
  2. Plan ahead for state holidays - For state holidays, the cutoff time is 5:00 PM, three days before each holiday.

Pay attention to the ID section when filling out the visitation request. You must be 18 or older to select certain ID options on the form.

You may need to provide documentation confirming your relationship to the offender - whether you're immediate family or applying as a Significant Relationship Visitor. Since non-immediate relationships require the offender's request and a review, having paperwork ready can help avoid delays.

Even with the approval process sorted, day-of details can vary - what you can bring, which documents they'll accept, how visits actually run. Before you finalize plans, check Jenkins Corrections Center's current instructions through official Georgia Department of Corrections resources or call the facility directly.
