Incident reports are handled by the Records Unit at the Lexington County Sheriff's Department headquarters, 521 Gibson Road in Lexington. If you're planning to request in person, that's where you'll go.

How to get an incident report from Lexington County Sheriff’s Department

Crime victims can request a copy of an incident report online at no cost through the department's incident report request page. It's the easiest option if you qualify - no trip to the Sheriff's Department required.

Allow some time for processing. Online requests can take up to three business days, and those days don't include weekends or government holidays.

Not the crime victim? You'll need to request the report in person at the Sheriff's Department. There's a small fee - the exact amount isn't listed online, so bring some cash or a card just in case.

Some reports aren't available online. If the incident involves a juvenile victim or sexual assault victim, you'll need to request it in person at the Gibson Road office.

The Records Unit processes requests Monday through Friday, excluding government holidays. If you submit a request near a weekend or holiday, expect it to carry over to the next business day.

Questions? Call the Lexington County Sheriff's Department at (803) 785-8230 and ask for the Records Unit.
