How to Schedule a Visit at Kennebec County Jail: Non-Contact vs. Contact Visits

At Kennebec County Correctional Facility, the key difference between non-contact and contact visits comes down to who initiates them. You can schedule a non-contact visit yourself. Contact visits? Those have to come from the inmate. For a contact visit, the inmate must have been incarcerated for 30 days and submit a Request for Contact Visit form. Approval happens case by case - it's not guaranteed. If approved, the inmate will let you know the date and time.

Reminder: You can't call to schedule a contact visit. The inmate must request it, and they'll notify you of the date and time if it's approved.

How to Schedule a Visit at Kennebec County Jail: Non-Contact vs. Contact Visits
  1. Call during the scheduling window - Non-contact visits are scheduled (booked) on Mondays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM (a policy that took effect November 4, 2019).
  2. Use the correct phone number and extension - Call the Kennebec County Correctional Facility at (207) 623-2270 ext. 1109 on Monday between 0800 and 1200 to schedule your non-contact visit.

If you’ve scheduled a visit but can’t make it, call the facility to cancel. Canceling helps staff offer that time to someone else who’s trying to get on the schedule.

Noncontact-days-times

  • Tuesday through Saturday: 7:00 PM–8:00 PM
  • Tuesday through Saturday: 8:15 PM–9:15 PM

Contact visits follow a different process. The inmate must have been incarcerated for 30 days and submit a Request for Contact Visit form. Approval isn't automatic - each request is reviewed individually.

Heads up: Visitors cannot call to schedule a contact visit.

If a contact visit gets approved, the inmate will notify you of the date and time. That's your cue to start planning.

Visits last one hour. Show up late, and the clock doesn't reset - your visit still ends at the originally scheduled time.

Can't make your visit? Call to cancel so someone else can grab that slot. Use the scheduling line at (207) 623-2270 ext. 1109. If possible, call during the Monday 0800–1200 scheduling window.
