According to Kennebec County Correctional Facility's FAQ, property drop-offs are no longer accepted as of April 10, 2018. Bottom line: you can't leave items at the jail for an inmate the way you might have before.

Property can still be released - just not dropped off. If you need to pick up someone's belongings, the inmate has to complete a Property Release Form first and list you specifically as the authorized recipient. Bring a photo ID when you arrive.

Plan ahead: Don’t show up expecting to drop off property for someone in custody. As of April 10, 2018, Kennebec County’s posted policy is that all property drop-offs are no longer accepted.

  • If you’re coming to the correctional facility to serve a sentence, you can bring medications in their original containers; narcotics will not be allowed while in custody.
  • You may bring money when coming to the facility.
  • Wedding rings and religious jewelry are allowed, but the facility recommends not bringing valuables and says it is not responsible for loss of valuables.

You'll need to go in person to the Kennebec County Correctional Facility at 115 State Street in Augusta. Bring the inmate's name, cash for the exact bail amount, and cash for the bail commissioner's fee.
