Before Your First Visit: What Kenosha Pretrial Facility Allows (and What Gets You Turned Away)

On-site video visits at Kenosha Pretrial Facility allow one adult and one minor per scheduled session. Show up with a second adult or extra children? You'll be turned away. Coordinate beforehand so only the right two people come inside.

Visitors must be at least 18, with two exceptions. A minor spouse can visit if they bring valid ID and proof of marriage. A minor child can visit if accompanied by the other parent or a legal guardian who stays with them the entire time. Either way, minors don't visit alone - an adult must be present.

ID and Paperwork

  • A valid, government-issued photo ID for every adult visitor (you’ll need it at check-in).
  • If a visitor is under 18 and is the inmate’s spouse: proper ID plus proof of marriage.
  • If you’re bringing the inmate’s child: the child must be accompanied by and under the direct supervision of the other parent or a legal guardian.
  • Any paperwork you may need to show parent/legal guardian status, if that applies to your situation.

No food or drinks in the visiting area. Eat or grab water before you go in - or wait until after - so you don't risk having your visit cut short.

Leave extra electronics behind. The only device allowed during your visit is the one you're using for the visit itself. Extra phones, tablets, or gadgets can get you turned away or end the session early.

You can't operate a motor vehicle once your visit starts. Get your parking sorted beforehand - you won't be able to move your car mid-visit.

All visitors are subject to search - both when entering and potentially during the visit. Wear simple clothing and bring only what you need to make screening quick and easy.

Warning: The facility can terminate a visit for inappropriate behavior or dress. That includes disruptive conduct, nudity or sexual behavior, weapons, drugs/alcohol, gang-related displays, unlawful activity, or obvious dress code violations.

Getting your visit ended early has consequences beyond that day. A first violation typically means a three-month suspension for the visitor; a second can mean indefinite revocation. The inmate also faces a two-week restriction per incident. One bad decision affects both of you.

Think you were turned away unfairly? Write down what happened while it's fresh - date, time, who you were visiting, and what staff told you. Then contact the facility to ask who handles visitation appeals and what documentation they need.
