What You Can and Can’t Bring to a Visit at Kenosha Pretrial (Visitor Checklist)
Visits at Kenosha Pretrial go smoother when you show up with the right ID, the right clothing, and nothing that will get you turned away at check-in. Use the checklist below to prep before you leave.
Want to avoid getting stopped at the door? Focus on the basics. Every adult visitor needs a valid ID for check-in. Shoes stay on at all times. Keep it simple with what you bring: food and drinks are not allowed in the visiting area. If you are under 18 and visiting as an inmate's spouse, bring proof of the marriage along with your identification.
- ✓ Valid ID for every adult visitor
- ✓ Shoes (required at all times)
- ✓ Clothing that is not sheer (see-through)
- ✓ No food or drink for the visiting area
- ✓ If you are under 18 and visiting as the inmate’s spouse: proper identification plus proof of marriage
For female visitors, shorts must cover the buttocks and crotch area when standing and sitting. Mid-thigh length or longer meets the requirement. Sheer (see-through) clothing is not allowed, and shoes are required at all times.
For male visitors, wear a shirt the entire time. Muscle shirts, bare midriff shirts, and sleeveless shirts are not allowed. Sheer (see-through) clothing is also prohibited. Shoes must be worn at all times.
Quick reminder: Shoes are required at all times, and sheer (see-through) clothing is not allowed. Clothing that does not meet the dress rules can get your visit ended before it starts.
The only electronic device allowed during the visit is the one you are using to complete the visit. Leave extra devices behind.
Leave snacks, drinks, and even water bottles at home. Kenosha Pretrial does not allow food or drink during visitation.
Search policy: All visitors are subject to search. Showing up with food, drinks, or extra electronics can slow down check-in and may prevent you from visiting.
Visiting with a child on-site? Plan for the limit: one adult and one minor per scheduled on-site video visit. The minor must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and you are responsible for supervising them during the visit.
Visitors generally must be at least 18. The facility makes two exceptions: an inmate's spouse under 18 may visit with proper identification and proof of marriage, and an inmate's child may visit only when accompanied and directly supervised by the other parent or legal guardian.
- ✓ Valid ID for the accompanying adult
- ✓ If the visitor is under 18 and is the inmate’s spouse: proof of marriage plus proper identification
- ✓ If the visitor is under 18 and is the inmate’s child: the other parent or legal guardian must accompany and directly supervise
Behavior matters during a visit. Inappropriate conduct by a visitor can lead to suspension or revocation of visiting privileges for both the visitor and the inmate. One bad decision can affect more than just your ability to come back.
A first violation involving inappropriate behavior can get the visitor suspended from visits for three months. The inmate involved also loses visit privileges for two weeks per incident.
A second violation is much more serious. The facility can indefinitely revoke visitation privileges for that visitor.
Warning: A single incident can impact both of you. A first violation can mean a three-month suspension for the visitor and a two-week restriction for the inmate (per incident), and a later violation can lead to indefinite revocation for the visitor.
- Bring your valid ID. Every adult must present a valid ID at check-in.
- Dress to pass the dress code. Wear shoes, and avoid sheer (see-through) clothing.
- Leave food and drinks behind. No food or drink is allowed in the visiting area.
- Limit electronics. The only electronic device allowed during the visit is the one being used to complete the visit.
- Be ready for a search. All visitors are subject to search upon arrival.
- If you bring a minor, follow the on-site limits. One adult and one minor per scheduled on-site video visit, and the minor must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Fast way to avoid delays: Show up with your valid ID, expect to be searched, and do not bring food or drinks into the visiting area.
