These rules apply to people housed in disciplinary or administrative restrictive housing at Kent County Jail. If they’re in that type of restrictive housing (and they are not on cell restriction), they can receive personal visits on a limited schedule.

Cell restriction is a different situation with stricter limits. If your loved one is on cell restriction, they can't receive personal visits for the first 15 days. After that, visits become request-based rather than following a weekly schedule.

For people in disciplinary or administrative restrictive housing (not on cell restriction), personal visits are limited to one per week. The visiting window is Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. Professional visits still happen during standard professional visitation hours.

Note: Follow the rules posted in the visitation area. Staff can remove you immediately if you don't, and you may lose visitation privileges. Cell phones, cameras, and recording devices aren't allowed in the personal visitation area.

If your loved one is on cell restriction, they can't receive personal visits for the first 15 days. It's frustrating, but it's a hard limit - no exceptions during that initial period.

After those first 15 days, they may request one personal visit every 16 days. The key word is "request" - it's not a guaranteed weekly slot, so expect some extra coordination.

Before you go, confirm two things: the restrictive-housing visiting window and your loved one's current status. People in disciplinary or administrative restrictive housing (not on cell restriction) can get one personal visit per week during the Friday–Sunday 8:00–9:00 a.m. window. Cell restriction changes what's allowed.

  1. Confirm their current status - Ask whether they’re in disciplinary restrictive housing, administrative restrictive housing, or on cell restriction.
  2. Verify the current visit window - Confirm that personal visits for restrictive housing are still Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m., and ask what applies if the inmate is on cell restriction.
  3. Ask how visit requests work (if applicable) - If they’re past the first 15 days of cell restriction, ask what the process is to request the one personal visit every 16 days.
  4. Double-check what you can bring in - Plan to leave prohibited items (especially phones and anything that records) out of the personal visitation area.
  5. Follow the posted rules once you arrive - If staff direct you to a posted rule in the visitation area, treat it as non-negotiable so your visit doesn’t get cut short.

Reminder: The rules posted in the visitation area are enforced. Break them and you can be removed immediately - and you may lose visitation privileges.
