Kerr County Jail lists three ways to add money for an inmate: mail a money order to the Kerr County Inmate Commissary, use the jail ATM in the front lobby (available 24 hours a day), or deposit online through JAILATM.COM. If you're trying to hit a specific commissary week, the method you choose matters. Mailed money orders have to arrive by a set deadline, so plan ahead.

Note: The jail no longer accepts money orders at the front lobby for inmate trust fund deposits. No outside packages will be accepted either.

To deposit by mail, send a money order using the jail's listed format: Inmate Name, 400 Clearwater Paseo, Kerrville, Texas 78028. Use the inmate's name exactly as it appears on their booking. This helps the jail apply the funds to the correct account.

Note: Money orders are no longer accepted at the front lobby for inmate trust fund deposits. Mail the money order instead, or use the lobby ATM or JAILATM.COM.

For faster deposits, the jail has an ATM in the front lobby that lets you put funds directly into an inmate's account. It's available 24 hours a day. JAILATM.COM is also listed as an online option, which is helpful if you can't get to the lobby in person.

  • $3.25 fee for cash deposits at the jail ATM
  • 10% charge on credit and debit card deposits at the jail ATM

Note: The Sheriff’s Office states it does not set the ATM fee and does not profit from it.

The commissary deadline is firm: money orders must be received before 12:00 noon on Monday to count toward Tuesday's order. The jail places commissary orders once a week on Tuesdays, and inmates receive their items on Thursdays. Miss the Monday noon cutoff, and the deposit won't apply until the following week's cycle.

If an inmate is indigent, Kerr County Jail provides basic supplies weekly: personal hygiene items, paper, a pen, envelopes, and stamps. That covers essentials even when there's no money on the books for commissary extras.

Note: Kerr County Jail states that balances on an inmate’s account will only be given to the inmate.

Practical Tips

  • Mail money orders early enough that they arrive before 12:00 noon on Monday if you want them included in Tuesday’s commissary order (orders are placed Tuesday and received Thursday)
  • If you’re using the 24-hour lobby ATM for speed, plan for the listed fees ($3.25 for cash deposits, or 10% when using a credit or debit card)
  • If timing matters, ask the inmate which week they’re trying to order for, since commissary is placed Tuesday and delivered Thursday

Note: JAILATM.COM and the lobby ATM are the fastest options. The jail does list fees for lobby ATM deposits, though the Sheriff's Office states it does not set or profit from those fees.
