The 15-Hour Rule and Cancellation Policy for Scheduling Visits at Kershaw
You can't just show up at Kershaw and hope for a spot. Every in-person visit must be booked through the GTL scheduler at least 15 hours in advance. That 15-hour cutoff is what trips most people up when they're trying to plan something last-minute.
Before you can book anything, two things need to be in place: you must be on the incarcerated person's approved visiting list, and you must register on the SCDC/GTL scheduling website. Once both are done, log in and pick an available slot.
Something come up? Cancel at least 48 hours before your scheduled visit. Miss that window and skip the visit anyway, and the facility counts it as used - it still goes toward the inmate's monthly visit total. That matters if another family member wants to visit later in the month.
The 15-hour rule only applies to in-person visits. Virtual visits have a different window: schedule them at least three days in advance, but no more than seven days out.

- ✓ If you can’t attend, cancel at least 48 hours in advance so the missed visit doesn’t count toward the inmate’s monthly visit total.
Reminder: Make sure the name you use when you register matches the name on the approved visiting list - mismatches can cause problems when you try to schedule.
Planning a virtual visit? Build in more lead time. You need to schedule at least three days out, and you can't book more than seven days ahead. Check your calendar and grab a slot as soon as you're within that window.
