What you can (and can't) bring into the visiting room at Kettle Moraine

Kettle Moraine keeps a short, specific list of what's allowed in the visiting room. Anything not on that list? Leave it in your car or stash it in a free Gatehouse locker. Otherwise, you risk delaying your visit.

What you can (and can't) bring into the visiting room at Kettle Moraine

Allowed Items

  • For each child: up to two (2) plastic baby bottles
  • For each child: up to two (2) baby blankets
  • For each child: up to four (4) diapers
  • For each child: one (1) hand-held baby seat
  • For each child: one (1) pacifier
  • Diaper wipes (must be kept in a clear plastic bag)
  • For each visitor: one (1) coat and one (1) pair of gloves
  • Headwear (provided it does not conceal identity)

Leave the diaper bag in your car. Kettle Moraine doesn't allow them in the visiting room. Instead, carry in only what's permitted for the child - a limited number of diapers, bottles, a blanket, and a pacifier. Keep wipes in a clear plastic bag.

Need personal medication during your visit? You can bring it. The facility lists inhalers, nitro pills (individual pills only, not bottles), and EpiPens as examples. Let both the Gatehouse officer and the visiting room officer know you have medication - no surprises at check-in.

Planning to use the vending machines? Bring no more than $25 in cash. And don't bring money expecting to hand it off for your loved one's account - they won't accept inmate deposits during visits.

Anything you can't take inside goes into the free secured lockers in the Gatehouse. You keep the key, and staff will hand-stamp you - show that stamp when you exit. Heading into the visiting room? You're allowed to bring only one (1) institution locker key with you.

Deposit tip: For adding money to an inmate account, AccessCorrections is the option promoted by the state: AccessCorrections.com or (866) 345-1884. They advertise faster online deposits, live bilingual agents available 24/7, and cash walk-in locations at most stores.

Vending machines sell food and drinks, but you can't share anything with the incarcerated person. Kettle Moraine also requires that you empty food onto the paper plates the institution provides.

Physical contact is limited. A brief hug and kiss at the start and end of the visit is fine, but no hand-holding - and visitors can't sit on an inmate's lap.
