Getting automatic custody updates with Kings County VINE

VINE is a free notification service that tracks custody status at Kings County Jail. It pulls data from the booking system every 15 minutes, so updates show up fast. The service runs around the clock - 24/7, 365 days a year - and works in both English and Spanish.

Two ways to register: call 1-800-491-0689 from any touch-tone phone, or sign up online through VINELink. Have the person's name ready before you start. If their name is common, you may also need their date of birth or arrest date to find the right record.

1. Gather identifying details - Have the person’s name ready, and be prepared to use other identifiers (like date of birth or arrest date) if your search brings up more than one match.
2. Register by phone or online - Use the toll-free number (1-800-491-0689) from a touch-tone phone, or register through VINELink.
3. Choose how you want to be reached - Pick the phone number(s) you want VINE to call for notifications.
4. Set and save your PIN - Create a 4-digit PIN and keep it somewhere you can grab quickly; you’ll use it to confirm calls and stop repeat notifications.

VINE doesn't call once and stop. When something changes, it calls every 30 minutes for up to 24 hours - or until you enter your PIN to confirm. Answer without entering the PIN? The calls keep coming, switching to every 2 hours for another 24 hours.
