Visits at Kirkland Reception and Evaluation Center must be scheduled through the GTL scheduler at least 15 hours ahead. Weekend visiting runs in two-hour blocks between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Adults 18+ with a valid South Carolina driver's license can register online as of June 1, 2025—paper applications are still accepted for adults without a SC ID and for all minor children. When you arrive, give the inmate's name and SCDC number so the automated check-in system can verify you're on the approved list and print your visitor pass. Expect ID checks and security screening. Level II and III visitors 18+ must submit to a pat/frisk search (female visitors are searched by female staff only), and personal wireless devices like smartwatches are prohibited. General population inmates with privileges get four in-person visits per month (max one per weekend), with up to four visitors at a time and at least one adult present.
Read full guideKirkland Reception and Evaluation Center schedules virtual visits through the GTL portal at scdoc.gtlvisitme.com, where you can register, sign in, and book or manage visits. Anyone on the inmate's approved visitation list can request a virtual visit, but each visitor needs their own account at scdoc.gtlvisitme.com/app—use the exact name shown on the approved list. Up to four approved visitors can join a virtual visit; approved minor children count toward that limit and must be accompanied by an approved adult. Visitors 10 and older must show photo ID to the visitation coordinator, while children under 10 need a certified long-form birth certificate. For technical or account issues, call GTL Visitor Support at 1-855-208-7349. Visitation-list or name-change questions go to VirtualVisitation@doc.sc.gov.
