You’ll need to create your own TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler account to schedule a visit. Kyle Unit (and TDCJ) staff can’t create a visitor account for you - they can only help with updating certain information after your account already exists.

Before you invest time setting everything up, check whether you can use the scheduler at all. Access is restricted to residents of the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Start from the official TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler login page (the URL ends with

  1. Create an account with your email - on the scheduler login screen, choose the option to create an account and submit a valid email address.
  2. Open the registration email - TDCJ will send you a message with a 7-digit validation code and a link.
  3. Finish registration using the code/link - follow that email prompt to complete account registration so you can move forward to the questionnaire and profile.

Warning: Choose your email carefully. Once your scheduler account is created, the account can’t be deleted and the email address on it can’t be changed.

After you set your password, you'll land on the Background Questionnaire. Answer every question - TDCJ won't let you move forward until the questionnaire is complete.

Tip: Enter your phone number exactly like this: XXX XXX XXXX (spaces only). Don’t use dashes - formatting it wrong can stop your profile from saving correctly.

When you add the person you want to visit, the scheduler asks for their TDCJ/SID number. It must be exactly 8 digits - shorter, longer, or missing digits will cause the search to fail.

If you don’t know the 8-digit TDCJ/SID number, use the TDCJ Offender Search tool to look it up first, then come back to the scheduler and add the inmate using the correct number.

After you find the right person and select your relationship, you'll submit a Relationship Request. Once confirmed, the request goes to the inmate's unit of assignment, where TDCJ staff verifies the relationship.

Don’t worry if you don’t see scheduling options immediately. Until staff approves it, your request stays listed on your visitor home page under “Relation Requests Pending Approval.”

Once your relationship is verified, you'll pick a

  1. Select the visit type - choose from the available options shown for your verified relationship (including Video/Tablet, if it’s offered).
  2. Review open dates and times - the scheduler will show the appointments that are actually available for that visit type.
  3. Choose an open slot and submit - pick the date/time you want from what’s offered and complete the request.

Troubleshooting

  • Type your account email into the scheduler login screen.
  • Click the Forgot Password/Reset Password link.
  • Watch your email for a message with steps to reset your password, then follow the instructions.

Two issues trip up most first-time users. First, your scheduler email is permanent - once created, the account can't be deleted and the email can't be changed. Second, if your profile won't save, double-check your phone number. TDCJ requires the XXX XXX XXXX format with spaces, not dashes.

If you’ve been verified but the “Schedule Visit” button is missing or replaced with “Call Unit,” treat that as your next step. Call the inmate’s unit of assignment to schedule the visit from there.
