Setting Up and Scheduling a Video Visit at Lackawanna County Prison (Desktop GTL VisBridge Guide)
Visiting from a desktop or laptop? You'll handle two parts: scheduling your time through the GTL/ViaPath portal for Lackawanna County Prison, then installing the GTL VisBridge desktop app so your computer can connect on visit day.
Head to the GTL/ViaPath scheduling portal that Lackawanna County Prison uses for video visitation. This is where you'll sign in, reserve a time slot, and manage any upcoming visits.
Note: Once signed in, you can schedule and manage visits in one place. The system confirms your slot instantly.
- Sign in to the GTL portal. Use your visitor account so you can schedule and manage upcoming visits.
- Choose who the visit is with. Follow the on-screen options to select the inmate you are scheduling with.
- Pick your visit details. Select the date, time, and location offered in the scheduler.
- Confirm the reservation. When the time slot is successfully reserved, the visit is confirmed instantly in the system.
Tip: Instant confirmation means you don't need to wait for a separate approval message. If the slot shows as booked, it's yours.
For video visits from a computer, you'll need the GTL VisBridge desktop application. The portal flags this for desktop visitors, so don't wait until the last minute to install it.
- Log into your visitor account. Do this ahead of time so you have access to the visit tools.
- Open “Internet Visit Tester” from the menu bar. This is where the portal walks you through downloading VisBridge and checking your setup.
- Follow the prompts to download and install GTL VisBridge. Complete the installer so the app is ready before your scheduled time.
- Run VisBridge as directed by the tester. If your computer asks for permissions (camera, microphone, or similar), allow what is needed so your video visit can connect.
- ✓ GTL VisBridge is downloaded and installed on the computer you will use
- ✓ You can access “Internet Visit Tester” from inside your GTL visitor account
- ✓ Your webcam and microphone work on that computer
- ✓ Your browser and computer permissions allow the visit tools (especially camera and microphone access)
- ✓ You have time set aside before the visit to run the tester and follow any prompts to fix issues
Log into your GTL visitor account at least 10 minutes before your scheduled visit. Select "Internet Visit Tester" and follow the prompts. This catches common connection problems before your visit window opens.
- Sign in early (at least 10 minutes). Give yourself time to troubleshoot without losing your visit time.
- Open “Internet Visit Tester.” Follow each prompt until the test completes.
- Fix what the tester flags. That may mean completing the VisBridge install steps or re-running the prompts after changes.
- Re-run the tester. Keep going until you get a clean result, then stay ready for your scheduled start time.
Before making plans for an in-person visit, check the Lackawanna County Prison website and the GTL portal for current status. The prison's site states that personal (in-person) visits are not currently allowed and lists a "Visitation Schedule (Effective 8/11/2023)." A quick check before you go can save a wasted trip if rules have changed.
