Before Your First Visit to Lakeview: Weekend Arrival, Visitor Limits, and What to Expect

Lakeview visitation is held on weekends, so plan your travel with Saturday and Sunday in mind.

Hours run 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Your latest allowed arrival is 2:30 PM - show up after that and you won't get in.

The facility is at 9300 Lake Avenue, P.O. Box T, Brocton, NY 14716-9798, United States. This works for both GPS navigation and mailing.

Who Can Come

  • ✓ Maximum visitors per visit: three (3) visitors
  • ✓ Plus one (1) child under age five (5) - the child must sit on an adult’s lap
  • ✓ No cross visits allowed

If your loved one is in SDP, visits are available on Saturdays and Sundays.

Shock/DTP participants can only receive one visit every two (2) weeks. Trying to schedule back-to-back weekends? This limit is why it won't work.

Special Housing Unit (SHU) visits happen on Saturdays only. Individuals in SHU can receive one non-legal visit within a seven (7) day period, during normal visiting hours.

When the visiting room gets crowded and visits need to end early, staff ask for volunteers first. Someone willing to wrap up? They'll be the first to go.

No volunteers? Local visitors - anyone who lives within 100 miles - may have their visits ended after three (3) hours. It's first-in, first-out.

If space is still tight, even long-distance visitors (those who traveled over 100 miles) can be cut off after three (3) hours - same first-in, first-out order.

Heads up: Busy weekends can mean shortened visits. Staff ask for volunteers first, but if the room stays packed, three-hour terminations happen.
