Visiting the Lancaster County Youth Services Center (LCYSC): Who Can Visit, Limits, Contact Rules, and Mailing Address
Visiting someone at LCYSC is easier when you know the basics upfront—who can visit, how many people are allowed, what contact is permitted, and how to send mail that actually reaches the right person.
Visitation at LCYSC is limited to parents, legal guardians, and siblings on the resident's approved visitor list. Not on that list? You'll be turned away.
- ✓ Bring proper picture identification every time you visit (examples include a state ID, federal ID, driver’s license, or school ID).
- ✓ For children, a birth certificate may be accepted as a source of identification.
Siblings under 18 must come with their legal guardian. The exception: if the sibling has legal documentation proving adult status, like emancipation papers or a marriage certificate.
Each resident can have up to three visitors. Need more people to attend? Get approval from supervisory personnel before you show up.
LCYSC can arrange alternative visits in certain situations. This applies when someone travels more than 150 miles and can't make regular visiting hours, or when the resident's security status requires a different arrangement.
Contact rule: Limited physical contact is allowed - typically a brief hug at the beginning and end of the visit. Staff will enforce what’s considered appropriate.
Arrive 10 to 30 minutes early. If your visit is at 7:30 p.m., plan to get there between 7:00 and 7:20 p.m. so you have time for check-in.

Personal Items and Security
- ✓ Use a front lobby locker to secure all personal belongings.
- ✓ Do not bring items into the visitation area such as cell phones, mail, stamps, food, drinks, purses, wallets, coats, keys, weapons, games, books, or similar items.
