For in-person deposits, head to the kiosk in the LCP vestibule. It accepts cash, credit, and debit cards. Expect a service fee on top of whatever amount you're adding. One thing to know: if the person had cash on them when they were booked, Lancaster County Prison deposits that money into their account at commitment. Worth checking whether they already have a balance before you add more.

Processing fee reminder: Lancaster County Prison imposes a $35 processing fee on every newly incarcerated or re-incarcerated individual at commitment. Financial privileges (including commissary access) are not available until that fee is paid in full.

JailATM lets you deposit money online. This is usually the easiest route if you can't make it to the facility or you're sending funds from out of town. There's a service fee, so factor that into how much you send.

Before you deposit: Even if you add funds online, commissary and other financial privileges are not available until the $35 processing fee (charged at commitment) is paid in full.

Securus Technologies is another option, but it's only for specific services. At Lancaster County Prison, Securus handles phone calls, eMessaging stamps, and tablet media. A service fee applies, and money added through Securus won't cover commissary purchases.

If commissary is the goal, stick with methods that deposit into the inmate account: the kiosk, JailATM, or mailed money orders and certified checks. And remember the $35 processing fee. Commissary access stays locked until that's paid, regardless of how money was added.

Prefer to mail funds? Lancaster County Prison accepts money orders or certified checks only. Include the incarcerated person's full name and identification number on the payment. Mail it to: Lancaster County Prison Attn: Inmate Accounts 625 E. King Street Lancaster, PA 17602

Heads up: If the person is newly incarcerated or re-incarcerated, the $35 processing fee charged at commitment can prevent commissary and other financial privileges until it is paid in full.

Lancaster County Prison sets up an inmate account at commitment using a contracted system with real-time updates. That's where deposits land, along with any money the person had at intake. For accountability, all inmate funds are overseen by the Lancaster County Controller, who conducts annual financial audits of these accounts.

  1. Account is created at commitment. When the person is committed to Lancaster County Prison, an inmate account is established in a contracted system with real-time updates.
  2. Intake money is added. Any monies found on the newly incarcerated individual are placed into their account at the time of commitment.
  3. Deposits are recorded through the account system. Money you add by kiosk, online (JailATM), or mail is entered into the same account system and reflected through its real-time updates.

Sending money out: Individuals can request to send money outside the institution by submitting a request that includes the recipient’s name and address and the reason for the request.
