How to Send Messages, Photos, and 30‑Second Videos to Someone at Lansing Correctional Facility
Messaging someone at Lansing Correctional Facility goes through ViaPath's GettingOut system. Set up an account, add funds, and you can send electronic messages, photos, and 30-second video messages to their tablet.
ViaPath's GettingOut service handles all messaging at Lansing Correctional Facility. It's what Kansas Department of Corrections uses for tablet communication - residents also use it for entertainment content. The process is simple: create a GettingOut account, add money, then send your message or attachment. Costs come out of your account balance.
First, create your ViaPath (GettingOut) account. You can do this through the Kansas DOC GettingOut page or by downloading the GettingOut mobile app. Both options create the same account - you only need one to handle messaging and deposits for KDOC tablet communication.
You'll need to add money to your ViaPath account before sending anything. KDOC requires a $10.00 minimum deposit to unlock messaging, photos, and 30-second video messages. Good news: there's no fee when you add funds electronically through ViaPath.
- ✓ Deposit at least $10.00 before you try to send a message, photo, or 30‑second video
- ✓ Add funds electronically through ViaPath (no fee to add funds this way)
Pricing is straightforward once your account is funded. Electronic messages cost $0.25 each. Photos are $0.25 per photo. A 30-second video attachment runs $1.75 per video. All charges come out of your ViaPath account balance.
Entertainment pricing: Entertainment content on the resident’s tablet is billed by the minute - $0.04/minute for standard content and $0.06/minute for premium content.
Printing costs are separate and come out of the resident's ViaPath account. Print email runs $0.35 per page, while printing an attachment or photo costs $1.00 per page. If your loved one decides to print what you send, that's where these per-page charges apply.
ViaPath account funds cover tablet services: sending messages, printing messages or photos, and entertainment content. They won't cover everything, though. Commissary purchases and debit phone time are handled through a separate request on the tablet - not your ViaPath balance.
