Commissary Rules at Lawrence County Jail: $80 Weekly Limit, Cancelling Orders, and Returns

Inmates at Lawrence County Jail can place one commissary order per week, with a spending cap of $80 plus the order fee. That cap doesn't mean unlimited quantities of everything. If jail staff has set limits on specific items, those limits still apply - you can't exceed them even if you're under $80.

  1. Open a request to the right account - send your cancellation request to the “Cancel Commissary Order” account.
  2. Use the exact subject line - put only “Cancel Order” in the subject line.
  3. Leave the comments blank - don’t add notes or extra details in the comments area.
  4. Submit it by the deadline - the request has to be in no later than 6:00pm on Wednesday.

Deadline reminder: Commissary checks the “Cancel Commissary Order” account at 6:00pm Wednesday, cancels requested orders by 7:00pm, and replies with only “Order Cancelled.”

The ticket matters at delivery. At Lawrence County Jail, all sales are final once the inmate signs and walks away. If something's wrong - missing items, wrong size clothing, anything - an exchange, replacement, or refund is only possible if the problem is written on the ticket before signing.

Tip: Treat delivery like a quick check-off - match the items to the ticket and write any issues on the ticket before you sign.

Changed your mind at delivery? There's a small window. Inmates can refuse up to two line items and get a refund. Refuse more than two items - or the entire order - and you'll still get credit, but commissary ordering is suspended for the next two weeks.

  • A “line item” is one separate entry on the commissary ticket (not the number of units inside that entry).
  • Refuse items at delivery (not later) so it’s clear what’s being sent back.
  • Keep it to two line items or fewer if you want a refund.
  • Returning more than two line items - or the entire order - results in credit, plus a two-week commissary ordering suspension.

When items are sent back - or when an order goes back to the warehouse because the inmate was released before delivery - refunds are processed within two business days.
