How to Register for Visits at Leath Correctional Institution (Online & Paper)
Want to visit someone at Leath Correctional Institution? Registration comes first. Starting June 1, 2025, most adults can register online—but paper applications are still required in several common situations.
Starting June 1, 2025, adults 18 and older with a valid South Carolina driver's license can register online.
Paper applications are still accepted if you don't have a South Carolina driver's license. Using a passport, U.S. visa, or another form of ID? You'll need to apply on paper.
Out-of-state driver's license? Paper application for you, too.
Paper is also the way to go if you don't have computer access or run into technical issues with the online system.
All minors must use the paper application process. You'll need to include documentation verifying the child's relationship to the person you're visiting.
Mail paper visitation applications to: Division of Visitation and I/M DT, P.O. Box 212969, Columbia, S.C., 29221-2969.
- ✓ Use the paper application if you don’t have an ID/driver’s license (for example, if you use a passport or U.S. visa).
- ✓ Use the paper application if you’re applying with an out-of-state driver’s license.
- ✓ Use the paper application if you don’t have computer access or you’re having technical difficulties.
- ✓ If the visitor is a minor child, include the appropriate documentation that verifies the relationship (minors must apply by paper).
Registration is just the first step. Before you can schedule visits, you need to be on the approved visitation list and create an account on the SCDC/GTL scheduling website.
Create your scheduling account at scdoc.gtlvisitme.com/app. Each visitor needs their own account, and the name on your account must match the name on the approved visitation list exactly.
- Log in to the GTL scheduling site - once you’re signed in, you can schedule your visit.
- Select your date, time, and location - choose the options that work for you.
- Confirm the visit - the portal confirms visits instantly after you make your selections.
Heads up: You must be on the approved visitation list before you can schedule anything. Make sure the name on your GTL account matches your approved name exactly - mismatches cause scheduling problems.
