What You Can and Cannot Bring to Leath Correctional Institution (Visitor Checklist)

Leave all wireless devices at home or locked in your car. SCDC banned personal wireless-capable devices on February 1, 2016 - and yes, that includes fitness trackers and smartwatches. The easiest way to avoid problems at the entrance? Don't bring them anywhere near the facility.

Expect a pat/frisk search if you're 18 or older. All adult visitors entering Level II and Level III institutions go through one, on top of standard screening. Plan your outfit accordingly - keep what you carry to a minimum.

Tobacco is completely off-limits. SCDC facilities are tobacco-free, and any tobacco products count as contraband. If you have cigarettes, vapes, or anything tobacco-related, leave them secured in your vehicle. Don't bring them into buildings or anywhere on institution grounds.

Vending Rules

• ✓ Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express are accepted for visitation vending machines.
• ✓ Prepaid debit cards are not accepted and may not be brought into the institution.
• ✓ Only one debit/credit card may be brought in per visiting group (or employee).
• ✓ The card you bring must have your name printed on it and it must match your ID.

1. Empty your pockets of wireless tech - Don’t bring phones or any personal wireless devices, including smartwatches and fitness trackers.
2. Plan your vending payment ahead of time - If you’ll use the vending machines, bring one accepted debit/credit card for your group; don’t bring prepaid debit cards.
3. Make sure the name matches - The card must have your name printed on it and it must match your ID.
4. Leave tobacco behind - SCDC is tobacco-free; tobacco products are contraband on agency property.
5. Expect a pat/frisk search - Adult visitors (18+) entering Level II/III institutions must submit to a pat/frisk search.
