Setting Up Phone Calls and Video Visits from Leblanc Unit: Registration, Rules, and Options

You have to register your phone number before you can receive calls from a TDCJ inmate. You can register online or by phone. Do it early - you don't want to be troubleshooting when your loved one is ready to call.

  • The inmate’s TDCJ ID number (you’ll need this to register your phone number)
  • Phone registration support: (866) 806-7804 (telephones are answered from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday–Friday)

Registration isn't just entering a number. The name on your driver license or state ID must match the name on your phone bill or listing. You'll need to confirm you're the registered owner of that number and that you're at least 18 years old.

Heads up: As part of registration, you must agree you will not forward calls, make three-way calls, or use a speakerphone on calls received from the inmate.

Remote video visits happen through a kiosk and are scheduled on the vendor website. You're limited to one per month, and each visit can run up to 60 minutes. Through Securus, a remote video visit costs $10.00 for the full 60 minutes.

Tablet video visits work differently. You'll schedule these through the TDCJ visitation portal at https://visitation.tdcj.texas.gov/Visitation/ - not the vendor site.

Quick comparison: Remote kiosk visits are scheduled through the vendor website - one per month, up to 60 minutes, $10.00 through Securus. Tablet visits are scheduled separately through the TDCJ visitation portal.

Need to file a complaint about ITS vendor services (phone, e-messaging, tablets, or Securus video visitation)? TDCJ accepts complaints by mail or email. Mail: ITS Contract Manager, PO Box 4016, Huntsville, TX 77342-4016. Email: offenderphones@tdcj.texas.gov.

Setting Up Phone Calls and Video Visits from Leblanc Unit: Registration, Rules, and Options
  1. Confirm they’re assigned to the Leblanc Unit - before you make a trip or plan around a call/video visit, verify the inmate is assigned to the unit you expect.
  2. Check visitation privileges - make sure the inmate has visitation privileges before you plan time off work or schedule travel.
  3. Call the unit for final confirmation - visitation schedules are updated frequently, so call before traveling to confirm what you’re planning hasn’t changed.

If calls aren't coming through after registration, contact phone support at (866) 806-7804 (available 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday–Friday). Planning to visit or schedule communication time? Confirm the inmate is assigned to the unit and has visitation privileges, then call the unit directly before making the trip.
