Understanding Visiting Hours and Scheduling Rules for Leblanc Unit

Visiting hours at the Leblanc Unit run Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. That's the standard window for in-person visits - but availability can shift depending on what's happening at the unit. Treat these as the normal hours, not a guarantee.

A regular visit lasts two hours. The clock starts once both the incarcerated person and visitor(s) are present, so check-in delays eat into your actual face-to-face time.

Visits are also limited by the visiting cycle. Normally, eligible inmates get one visit per week. Coordinate with other family members ahead of time so you don't accidentally use up someone else's slot.

When multiple adults want to see the same person, the Leblanc Unit may allow a split visit. This divides the visit into increments so different adults can rotate in - up to four adults total. To request this, tell the visitation officer during check-in.

Traveling a long distance? You may be able to request extra time. The Leblanc Unit can permit extended visits - up to four hours - if you're traveling more than 250 miles one way. It's not automatic, though. Extended visits are at the warden's discretion and depend on available time and space. Plan for a regular two-hour visit unless you've been told otherwise.

Even when you've done everything right, visits can be paused for safety reasons. Visitation may be temporarily suspended during lockdowns, escapes, disturbances, or health emergencies. When that happens, no one can visit until the unit resumes normal operations.
