Getting Your Vehicle Back After an Arrest in Lexington County: Fees, Timing, and What You Need
Getting a vehicle out of impound after an arrest adds stress to an already difficult situation. Here's what Lexington County requires: who can pick it up, where to go, and what fees to expect.
For arrests made by the Lexington County Sheriff's Department, the registered owner picks up the vehicle at the sheriff's headquarters lobby. The good news: vehicle release is available 24/7.
Bring a government-issued photo ID. The registered owner must present it at headquarters to release the vehicle.
The initial impound (tow) fee is $150 for vehicles impounded after an arrest.
Storage fees add up quickly. Tow companies charge $25 per day on top of the initial tow fee, so the sooner you retrieve the vehicle, the less you'll pay.
Note: If exigent circumstances were involved, the initial tow fee could be higher than $150.
