What to Bring Your Loved One in the First 72 Hours at Liberty County Jail
Someone you care about just got booked into Liberty County Jail. There's a short window—72 hours—when you can drop off a few clothing basics. Here's what's allowed and what happens after that window closes.
Family and friends can bring a small set of clothing basics during the first 72 hours after booking. Miss that window? Those same items have to be purchased through commissary (called "store call"), and inmates are limited to six of each item when they leave.
Exact Items
- ✓ Underwear - allowed during the first 72 hours only; must be new, still closed in the package, and solid white
- ✓ Socks - up to 6 pairs
- ✓ T-shirts - up to 6
- ✓ Undershorts - up to 6 pairs
- ✓ Bras (women) - up to 3 to replace the T-shirts; must be solid white and wireless
Note: Underwear must be solid white and still sealed in the original package. Bringing bras instead of T-shirts? They need to be solid white and wireless.
Packaging is the biggest reason first-time drop-offs get rejected. Underwear must be solid white, brand new, and sealed in its original package. Opened packs and mixed colors won't be accepted.
After the 72-hour window closes, your loved one will need to buy clothing items through commissary instead of receiving them from outside. The jail limits inmates to six of each item - and they'll take those items with them when released.

Quick Tips
- ✓ Call the front office (912-876-6411) during business hours to confirm the drop-off process before you drive over; if it’s after hours, call booking at 912-369-9271 (or (912) 876-4555).
- ✓ Bring proper ID if you’re picking up anything - anyone claiming an inmate’s property or money must show identification, and the inmate has to complete a property release form first.
- ✓ Stick to the exact clothing rules: underwear must be solid white, new, and sealed in the package; bras (if used instead of T-shirts) must be solid white and wireless.
- ✓ Expect policies to change: the jail administrator can amend this information as circumstances warrant, so a quick phone call can save you a wasted trip.
