How Many Visitors and Visits Are Allowed at Lieber: Monthly and Per‑Visit Limits

Coordinating visits at Lieber comes down to two numbers: the monthly visit cap and how many people can be in the visiting room at once.

General population inmates with visitation privileges can receive up to four in-person visits per month. That monthly cap is usually the limit families bump into when several people want to visit regularly.

There's also a weekend limit: one in-person visit per weekend. So you're balancing the "one per weekend" rule against the "up to four per month" total.

Up to four visitors can attend each in-person visit. If more than four people want to come, you'll need to rotate and schedule separate visits.

Note: At least one of the visitors present during an in-person visit must be an adult.

Each inmate can have a maximum of 15 approved visitors on their list. If someone isn't approved and on that list, they can't be scheduled for an in-person visit.

Getting on the approved list starts with the SCDC visitor application, Form 19-127 (Request for Visiting Privileges). The inmate provides this form to prospective visitors, so your first step is usually asking your loved one to send you the paperwork.

  1. Make sure you can use the scheduler: Visits must be scheduled ahead of time through the SCDC/GTL scheduler, and you have to register on that site to schedule.
  2. Coordinate the monthly limit: General population inmates with visitation privileges are allowed up to four in-person visits per month, so decide early who is using which visit slots.
  3. Avoid double-booking weekends: Inmates may have one in-person visit per weekend. If two groups try to schedule the same weekend, one of those visits will need to move to a different weekend (as long as there is still room within the four-per-month limit).
  • Keep the group to four visitors or fewer for the in-person visit.
  • Make sure at least one person in the group is an adult.
  • Confirm each visitor is on the inmate’s approved visiting list (maximum 15 people).
  • If someone is not approved yet, ask the inmate for SCDC Form 19-127 (Request for Visiting Privileges) so the visitor can apply.

Reminder: Don't show up expecting to be worked in. Register and book your time slot in the SCDC/GTL scheduler before you make travel plans.
