Virtual Attorney Visits (VAV) at Limestone: What Families Should Know

Limestone's Virtual Attorney Visits (VAV) program lets attorneys meet with their clients over Zoom for confidential legal conversations. It's a practical option when an in-person visit isn't feasible - though it's not intended to replace face-to-face meetings entirely.

VAV sessions are strictly limited to legal personnel and language support. Only attorneys, legal assistants, and interpreters can attend. Family members and friends can't join - even if you're trying to help coordinate or just want to hear how things are going.

Before a VAV meeting, the attorney must verify their identity. Limestone accepts a bar card from any state or other documentation proving bar membership. This verification happens before the session begins.

If your loved one needs interpretation, the attorney can bring in outside interpretation services during the call. This helps ensure clear communication between attorney and client in real time.

No recording: Legal representatives and their staff are not permitted to audio- or video-record any virtual or in-person visit, or any call, with non-citizens at Limestone. Violations can lead to suspension or permanent revocation of VAV user privileges.

VAV calls are confidential, but Limestone still maintains security around each session. A visitation officer is stationed outside the confidential room during calls. If you have questions about VAV, the facility lists LegalDocs@lasallecorrections.com as the contact email.

Want to pass information to your loved one's attorney or get a case update? Keep in mind that VAV is a confidential attorney–client session - family can't sit in. Your best bet is to coordinate directly with the legal representative or their assistant outside of the call, so your questions or updates can be handled separately.

  • Get the name and contact information for your loved one’s legal representative (or legal assistant)
  • Share any time-sensitive details with the legal team directly, since family can’t join the VAV session
  • Ask the attorney how they prefer to provide updates outside the VAV call
