Your First Visit to Limon Correctional Facility: What to Expect at Check-In
Your first visit goes smoother when your paperwork and ID match what the facility has on file. Here's what check-in at Limon Correctional Facility involves, so you can walk in prepared.
Double-check that the address on your government-issued photo ID matches what you put on your visiting application. Colorado DOC requires a copy of valid, unexpired photo ID with the application - and if the addresses don't match, they may deny it. Moved since you applied? Get that corrected before you assume you're all set.
Approved visitors over 18 need to show valid picture identification before entering. Bring the actual ID - staff will check it at the door.
When you arrive, you'll register at entry. Part of this process is completing AR Form 300-01B, the Offender Visitor Consent to Search Authorization. By signing it, you acknowledge and authorize the circumstances under which you may be searched during your visit.
Good news: you don't have to fill out that consent form every time. Once you complete AR Form 300-01B, it stays on file for one year. After that, you'll need to complete a new one.
Limon houses medium or higher custody offenders, so expect an extra ID step: staff will stamp the back of your right hand with an ultra-violet (UV) marker. This applies to everyone except children under three. The stamp shows up under a "black light" and confirms your identity during the visit.
If your personal information changes after approval - name, address, anything - you're responsible for updating the DOC. You can do this verbally at the visiting center or by completing AR Form 300-01C (Visiting Update) at your next visit.
Practical-check-in-tips
- ✓ Bring your valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID, and make sure the address matches what you put on your visiting application.
- ✓ Be ready to complete AR Form 300-01B (Offender Visitor Consent to Search Authorization) when you register upon entry if you don’t already have a current one on file.
- ✓ Expect the UV hand stamp on the back of your right hand before entry (this applies to all visitors except children under three).
Reminder: AR Form 300-01B is valid for one year, so check whether yours has expired. If your personal information has changed since you applied, update the DOC at the visiting center or with AR Form 300-01C - otherwise it could slow down your check-in.
