What Happens During Your First Visit to Limon: Check-In, Consent Form, and the UV Hand Stamp

When you arrive at Limon, you'll register at the visiting center before entering. Part of check-in is completing AR Form 300-01B, the Offender Visitor Consent to Search Authorization. It's the form confirming you understand when and how visitors may be searched. This isn't something you fill out once and forget. AR Form 300-01B stays on file for one year. After that, you'll need to complete a new one at your next visit. If it's been a while, plan for that extra step at the counter.

Some Colorado DOC facilities use an ultraviolet (UV) hand stamp as part of entry. At facilities housing medium- or higher-custody offenders, the employee authorizing entry stamps the back of your right hand with an ultraviolet marker. Children under three are exempt. The stamp gets checked under a black light before you leave to confirm your identity. Since this practice depends on custody level, call ahead to ask whether Limon is using the UV stamp on your visit day - especially if you're bringing kids and want to prep them for what happens at the door.

If your personal information changes, you're responsible for updating DOC. You can do that verbally at the visiting center or by completing AR Form 300-01C (Visiting Update) at a later visit. A small detail, but it prevents bigger headaches at check-in.

During your visit, you're expected to follow the facility's visitor conduct rules and dress code. Break them, and the consequences are immediate: your visit may be canceled before it starts or terminated mid-visit. When in doubt, play it conservative. Adjusting your outfit before you arrive is much easier than losing your time with your loved one at the door.

Suspensions after violations: Visits can be terminated for rule violations, and after administrative review a visitor suspension may be imposed - 30 days for a first violation, 90 days for a second, and one year for a third.

Before You Go

  • Be ready to register at the visiting center and complete AR Form 300-01B (Offender Visitor Consent to Search Authorization) when you arrive.
  • If it’s been more than a year since you last visited, expect to complete a new AR Form 300-01B because the form is only on file for one year.
  • Ask ahead of time whether Limon is using the UV hand-stamp process; at medium-or-higher custody facilities, visitors (except children under three) have the back of their right hand stamped before entry.
  • Plan to update any changes to your personal information verbally at the visiting center or with AR Form 300-01C (Visiting Update) at a later visit.
  • Follow the visitation dress code and conduct rules - noncompliance can lead to a canceled visit, a terminated visit, and possible suspension after review.
