Adding an Inmate to Your TDCJ Visitor Profile (What Happens Next for Lindsey State Jail)

When you add someone to your TDCJ visitor profile, the scheduler requires you to search using the inmate’s 8-digit TDCJ number or 8-digit SID number. If the number you have isn’t 8 digits long, it won’t match what the system is looking for, and you won’t be able to complete the add-inmate search.

If you don’t know the inmate’s TDCJ number or SID number, use TDCJ’s Offender Search to look it up first (the scheduler itself points you there). Once you find the correct person in Offender Search, write down the 8-digit number exactly as shown - then come back to the visitation scheduler and use that number to add them to your profile.

After you find the right person in the scheduler, you’ll choose your relationship from the “The Inmate is My” dropdown and then hit “Request Approval.” When you submit that request, the system sends a Relationship Request to the inmate’s unit of assignment so TDCJ staff can verify the visitor/inmate relationship.

While staff are reviewing your request, nothing is “wrong” - it’s just not approved yet. Until TDCJ staff approve it, the relationship stays on your visitor home page under the section labeled “Relation Requests Pending Approval.”

Once TDCJ staff confirm the relationship, it moves out of pending and shows under “Verified Inmate Relations.” That’s the point where you may be able to schedule a visit - look for a “Schedule Visit” button next to the inmate’s name. If that button is available, you can move forward with scheduling.

If you’re seeing the relationship verified but the “Schedule Visit” button is blank or it shows “Call Unit,” don’t keep resubmitting the request. In that situation, TDCJ’s guidance is to call the inmate’s unit of assignment to schedule the visit.
