How to Register for In-Person Visits at Livesay: Online vs. Paper Applications
Getting approved to visit at Livesay comes down to who you are and what ID you have. Here's how to figure out whether you can register online or need to mail in a paper application—and what to do if you hit a snag.
Adults 18 and older with a valid South Carolina driver's license can register online as of June 1, 2025. This is usually the fastest way to get into the system. No SC driver's license? Registering a child? You'll need to go the paper route - skip down to that section for details.
When Paper Required
- ✓ You have an out-of-state driver’s license.
- ✓ You don’t have any ID or driver’s license (for example, you use a passport or a U.S. visa).
- ✓ You’re having technical difficulties using a computer, or you don’t have access to one.
- ✓ You’re applying for a minor child. Minor children must use the paper process and include the appropriate documentation to verify the parent/child relationship.
If you need to submit a paper application, mail it to: Division of Visitation and I/M DT, P.O. Box 212969, Columbia, S.C., 29221-2969. Fill out every section clearly and include any required documents - especially if you're applying for a minor. Keep a copy of everything you send. You'll want it handy if the office has follow-up questions.
