What Happens If You Can't Make Your Scheduled Visit at Livesay

SCDC requires at least 48 hours' notice to cancel a scheduled visit. Miss that window, and the visit counts toward the inmate's monthly total - even if you never show up.

This matters because general population inmates with visitation privileges get four in-person visits per month. A missed or late-cancelled visit still uses one of those slots, leaving fewer visits for the rest of the month.

At Livesay and other SCDC facilities, a scheduled visit isn't free just because it didn't happen. If you don't cancel at least 48 hours ahead, SCDC counts it against the inmate's monthly total. General population inmates with visitation privileges are allowed four in-person visits per month - so a no-show or late cancellation takes away one of those four slots.

What Happens If You Can't Make Your Scheduled Visit at Livesay
  1. Call the Visitation Inquiry Line - Dial 803-896-1838 and follow the prompts (press 1 for questions about the application process). If you’re leaving a message and requesting a callback, make sure your voicemail box is set up and not full.
  2. Email the Visitation office - Send a message to visitation@doc.sc.gov with the details of the visit you need to cancel.

Note: Canceling inside the 48-hour window may not stop the visit from counting. The 48-hour rule still applies.
