Understanding Livingston County Jail's Video Visit Limits and the Free First Remote Visit

At Livingston County Jail, every visit is a video visit - whether you come to the jail to use their on-site video system or you connect remotely from home. These visits are monitored and recorded, so plan your conversation with that in mind.

Each inmate gets up to four video visits per week. Only one of those can be an on-site visit at the jail. The remaining three? Those have to be remote visits from home.

Each video visit runs 20 minutes. Be ready to start on time - you'll want to make every minute count.

Here's the key thing: "on-site" versus "off-site" doesn't change the format. Both are video calls, both are monitored and recorded. The only difference is your location during the call. The jail caps on-site visits at one per inmate each week.

Planning an on-site visit? A few logistics to keep in mind: only three visitors can attend per visit, so larger families may need to rotate week to week. Arrive 15 minutes early for check-in. Show up more than five minutes after your scheduled start time, and the visit gets canceled.

Good news: the jail currently offers the first off-site remote visit each week for free (per inmate). This promotion runs "until further notice," so you can count on one no-cost remote session weekly as long as it stays active.

After that free visit, additional off-site remote visits cost $5 each - down from the usual $10. If you're watching your budget but want regular contact, remote visits give you more time together for less money.

Heads up: You need funds in your ICSolutions account before you can schedule a remote visit.

Scheduling Tips and Hours

  • Schedule visits at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Visits are first-come, first-served, so earlier scheduling gives you more choices.
  • On-site visitation hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
  • Off-site (remote) visitation hours: Monday–Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., excluding mealtimes and counts.
  1. Use the free remote visit intentionally - since the first off-site remote visit each week is free, try to place it on the day you know you’ll both be most able to focus.
  2. Save the one on-site slot for when it really helps - because only one on-site visit is allowed per week, reserve it for the week when coming to the jail makes the most sense for your family.
  3. Book early to protect your time - visits are limited and scheduled first-come, first-served, so locking in your appointment ahead of time helps you avoid losing a spot.

Tech check: Remote visits require a webcam and must meet minimum system requirements. Test your setup beforehand so you don't waste minutes troubleshooting.
