Before Your First Visit to Lockhart: What ID to Bring and What to Leave at Home

If you're 18 or older, bring a current government-issued photo ID. Have it in your hand - not buried in a bag - so check-in goes quickly.

At least one form of ID must show your current physical address. The exception: victims of family violence certified by the attorney general for address protection. Everyone else should double-check that their ID address is up to date before arriving.

Allowed Small Items

  • A small wallet
  • A clear plastic bag (Ziploc® type)
  • A change purse

You can bring up to $35 in coins for the vending machines. Paper money isn't allowed past the secure entrance - coins only.

  • No more than three diapers (for infants/small children)
  • A supply of baby wipes
  • Two baby bottles (or a “sippy” cup for toddlers)
  • Store these infant items in a clear plastic bag
  • Leave purses and diaper bags behind (they’re not allowed inside the secured perimeter)

Prohibited Items

  • Purses
  • Diaper bags
  • Cell phones
  • Pagers
  • Laptop computers
  • Digital recorders
  • Any other electronic or wireless devices
  • Cameras
  • Photographs or photograph albums
  • Toys and dolls
  • Tobacco
  • Lighters
  • Matches

Heads up: You'll go through screening at entry. If you have prohibited items, you'll need to take them back to your car before you can enter.

Before Your First Visit to Lockhart: What ID to Bring and What to Leave at Home
  1. Put your photo ID somewhere easy to grab - visitors 18 and older must show a current government-issued photo ID at check-in.
  2. Make sure one ID shows your current physical address - that address requirement can trip people up if their ID hasn’t been updated.
  3. Carry items in a permitted small container - use a small wallet, a clear plastic (Ziploc®-type) bag, or a change purse.
  1. Empty your pockets and car of electronics - phones and other electronic/wireless devices aren’t allowed inside the secured perimeter.
  2. Leave bags behind - purses and diaper bags can’t go in.
  3. Skip photos and kid toys - cameras, photographs/albums, and toys/dolls are prohibited.
  4. Don’t bring tobacco or flame - tobacco, lighters, and matches aren’t allowed.
  5. If you want vending machine money, bring coins only - up to $35 in coins is allowed; paper money is not.

Vending machines: Bring coins only - up to $35.
