How to Schedule Your First Visit to Lopez Unit Using the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler
Getting your first visit scheduled at Lopez Unit comes down to setting up the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler correctly. Pay close attention to your email, phone number format, and the inmate's ID number.
You'll need to create your own TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler account - unit staff can't do this for you. They can help with certain updates once your account exists, but the initial setup is your responsibility. One more thing: treat the email address you use as permanent. Once an account is tied to an email, it can't be deleted or changed later.
- Start the “Create an Account” process - If this is your first time using the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler, you’ll need to create an account before you can schedule anything.
- Submit a valid email address - Enter the email you want tied to your account and submit it.
- Open the validation email - After you submit your email, the system sends you a message with a 7-digit validation code and a link.
- Use the link and code to finish registration - Follow the link from the email and enter the 7-digit code to complete your account registration.
Warning: Enter your phone number exactly like this: XXX XXX XXXX. Use spaces, not dashes.
Once your account is ready, add the inmate to your profile so you can request approval and schedule a visit. Here's the key detail: the inmate's TDCJ or SID number must be exactly 8 digits. Enter fewer digits or add extra characters, and the system won't find the right person - or it'll block you from moving forward.
After you select the correct person and submit your Relationship Request, the scheduler sends it to the inmate's unit of assignment. Lopez Unit staff will then verify your relationship to the inmate before you can schedule a visit.
You can track your request right from the scheduler home page. Until staff approves it, you'll see it listed under
Once you're cleared to schedule, the system will ask you to choose a visit type. Options might include Regular, Contact, and Video/Tablet. Don't worry if you don't see every option - what appears depends on your relationship to the inmate, the facility's visitation setup, and the inmate's current privileges. The dropdown shows only what you're actually allowed to request.
Note: Eligible inmates are typically allowed one visit per visiting cycle.
