How to Schedule a Visit at Lubbock County Jail (Lubbock County Detention Center)

To schedule a visit, you'll need to register through SmartInmate (Smart Communications). Creating an account is free, but you can't book anything until you submit a visitor application with a valid photo ID and a recent photo of yourself. The facility reviews applications before you can pick a time slot. Approval usually takes about 24 hours, so register a day or two before you want to visit - especially if it's your first time.

ID Photo Requirements

• ✓ Valid government-issued photo ID (required for all visitors over age 17): state-issued ID card or driver’s license
• ✓ Military identification card
• ✓ Law enforcement agency/commission ID with a photograph
• ✓ Official passport
• ✓ Offender’s State Card (allowed for up to 30 days from the date of your first visit)
• ✓ A recent photo of yourself to upload with your SmartInmate application (used to compare to your ID)

1. Create your SmartInmate account - Lubbock County Detention Center uses SmartInmate (Smart Communications), and signing up is free.
2. Upload your ID and a recent photo of yourself - you must include both a valid photo ID and a current photo for ID comparison.
3. Submit your visitor application - your application has to be on file before you can schedule a visit.
4. Wait for facility approval - approvals are typically completed within 24 hours.

Once approved, you can schedule your visit - but plan ahead. Visits must be booked at least 1 day (24 hours) in advance.

Visitation hours run from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm, with the last visit starting no later than 9:30 pm. Arrive with time to spare - late arrivals can cost you the visit. At check-in, staff will verify your identity and confirm your scheduled slot. Bring the same valid photo ID you used during registration.
