Brought stuff you can't take inside? Lockers in the visitation area have you covered. They require a quarter - insert it, lock up, and keep the key during your visit. You'll get your quarter back when you return the key. Cell phones, purses, backpacks, and other bags all need to go in a locker since they're not allowed in the visitation rooms.

  • Bring a solid quarter so you can use a locker if you need one.
  • Keep the locker key with you during your visit so you can retrieve your items afterward.
  • Put prohibited personal items (like phones, purses, backpacks, and bags) in a locker before entering the visitation room.

Lubbock County Detention Center enforces a specific dress code. The safest bet? A regular, opaque top that fully covers you. Halter tops, undershirts, tank tops, fishnet shirts, and anything see-through are all prohibited. Open midriffs aren't allowed either, and cutoff shorts are a no-go - skip anything that looks altered from its original style.

Tip: Not sure about a shirt? Hold it up to the light. If it's even slightly see-through (including mesh or fishnet), pick something else. A simple T-shirt or blouse covering your midriff beats a tank, halter, or cutoff-style outfit every time.

For bottoms and dresses, the facility uses a simple length test: shorts, dresses, and skirts must reach at least your fingertips when your arm hangs straight down. Clothing that's too tight or revealing is also prohibited, including anything modified to show more skin. If you're second-guessing whether something is "too short" or "too tight," change before you leave. Getting turned away at the door is a frustrating way to start a visit.

Reminder: Clothing that signifies gang affiliation is not allowed, including items like cuts or colored bandannas.

If you violate visitation rules, staff may end your visit immediately.

Violations can also affect future visits. If you're caught breaking the rules, your visitation privileges may be suspended for up to 30 days.
