Lynaugh Unit Visiting Hours, Visit Length, and the One-Visit-Per-Week Rule
Visitation at the Lynaugh Unit follows TDCJ's standard schedule. Here's how weekend hours work, what the Monday–Sunday visiting cycle means for you, and what to expect from your two-hour visit window.
Visiting hours at TDCJ units are Saturdays and Sundays, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. That's your window. Plan around it - especially if you're coordinating rides, childcare, or a long drive.
TDCJ runs on a "visiting cycle" from Monday through Sunday. Eligible inmates get one visit per cycle - not one per weekend day. Visit on Saturday? That counts as your visit for the entire Monday–Sunday period.
Each visit lasts two hours. The clock starts when both you and your loved one are present in the visiting area - not when you walk through the front door. Be ready to go once you're called in so you get every minute.

- ✓ Plan around the Monday–Sunday visiting cycle so you don’t accidentally use up the one allowed visit early in the week.
- ✓ Coordinate with other family members before anyone goes - normally, there’s only one visit per visiting cycle for eligible inmates.
- ✓ Aim to be ready to start when you’re called, since the two-hour visit begins when both you and the inmate are present.
- ✓ If you’re traveling, build your day around the Saturday/Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. visiting-hours window.
