Special rules for CPP & Re-Entry families at Lynchburg JDC: visits, visitors, and medical costs

This information is for families of youth in Lynchburg JDC's Community Placement Program (CPP) and the Re-Entry Program. Both programs share the same visitation schedule: Wednesday evenings from 6:00–7:00 pm and Sunday afternoons from 2:30–3:30 pm. If your child is in CPP or Re-Entry, these are your visit windows. Pay close attention to the program-specific visitor rules below - they differ from what applies to general detention visits.

The biggest difference for CPP and Re-Entry families? How many people can visit at once. Normally, only two visitors are allowed per session. But CPP and Re-Entry participants can have up to four visitors - if those visitors are pre-approved by the Department of Juvenile Justice. Planning to bring more than two people? Get that pre-approval confirmed first. Otherwise, someone may drive all the way there just to be turned away at the door.

Visiting Days Times

  • CPP visitation hours: Wednesday 6:00–7:00 pm; Sunday 2:30–3:30 pm
  • Re-Entry visitation hours: Wednesday 6:00–7:00 pm; Sunday 2:30–3:30 pm

Unless you already have pre-approval through the Department of Juvenile Justice, plan around the two-visitor limit. With pre-approval, CPP and Re-Entry participants can bring up to four visitors. Decide ahead of time who's coming, and verify that any additional visitors are actually approved before you arrive. Without that confirmation, expect the visit to be capped at two people.

  1. Confirm whether you have DJJ pre-approval - Up to four visitors are allowed for CPP and Re-Entry only when the visitors are pre-approved by the Department of Juvenile Justice.
  2. Plan your visitor group based on that approval - If you don’t have pre-approval in place, assume the visit will be limited.
  3. Arrive 15 minutes early to sign in - Visitors for CPP and Re-Entry should be there 15 minutes before the visit starts so you have time to check in.

Medical bills work differently depending on your child's program status. If your child is not in CPP or Re-Entry, prescriptions and outside medical costs fall on you as the parent or legal guardian. If they are in CPP or Re-Entry, the policy changes - those costs are handled differently.

Reminder: Before assuming you'll be billed (or won't be), confirm whether your child is currently in CPP or Re-Entry. Program status determines how prescription and outside medical costs are handled.
