Which Pod Is My Child In? Lynchburg JDC visitation schedule by pod & program
Visitation at Lynchburg Regional Juvenile Detention Center is scheduled by pod or program—so the right day and time depends on where your child is housed. Match their pod or program label to the correct visitation window before you go.
Pod A, Pod B, or post-dispositional males: Tuesday from 6:00–7:00 pm and Sunday from 1:00–2:00 pm. Mark both windows on your calendar so you don't show up on the wrong day.
Pod C or post-dispositional females: Thursday from 6:00–7:00 pm and Sunday from 4:00–5:00 pm.
Re-Entry Program (males & females): Wednesday from 6:00–7:00 pm and Sunday from 2:30–3:30 pm.
Community Placement Program (CPP) (males & females): same schedule as Re-Entry - Wednesday from 6:00–7:00 pm and Sunday from 2:30–3:30 pm. Match your visit to the program label (CPP), not a pod letter.
The schedule uses a mix of pod letters (A, B, C), labels like "post-dispositional" (separated by gender), and program names (CPP, Re-Entry). Figure out which label applies to your child, then use the matching time slot: - Pod A / Pod B / post-dispositional males - Tuesday 6:00–7:00 pm, Sunday 1:00–2:00 pm - Pod C / post-dispositional females - Thursday 6:00–7:00 pm, Sunday 4:00–5:00 pm - CPP or Re-Entry - Wednesday 6:00–7:00 pm, Sunday 2:30–3:30 pm
Regular visitation allows a maximum of two visitors per day. Only parents or legal guardians may visit, so make sure everyone in your group qualifies before making the trip.
CPP & Re-Entry exception: These programs may allow up to four visitors - but only if each visitor is pre-approved by the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Before You Go
- ✓ Arrive 15 minutes before your visit time to sign in.
- ✓ Bring photo identification for check-in.
- ✓ Expect to pass through a metal detector screening.
Visiting professionals can come Monday–Friday, 8:30 am to 4:40 pm. Avoid the lunch/rest period (11:30 am–12:30 pm) and shift change (3:00–3:30 pm). If you're a professional delivering services other than the detainee's Court Service Worker or Attorney, call ahead to schedule your visit.
Not sure which pod or program applies? Call the City of Lynchburg at 434-856-2489 during regular hours (Monday–Friday, 8:30 am–5:00 pm) and ask to confirm the correct visitation group. Remember, visitation is limited to parents or legal guardians - have that info ready when you call.
Two special cases: Law enforcement officers interviewing detainees need written permission from a parent or legal guardian. Clergy must also have written parental permission, plus a copy of their certificate of ordination or license.
