David Wade Visiting Hours: When You Can (and Can't) Come In
David Wade Correctional Center's regular visiting schedule runs Thursday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. But there's a mid-day admission blackout and a firm cutoff for starting visits that can ruin your trip if you don't plan ahead.
David Wade Correctional Center (DWCC) holds regular visitation on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Keep that window in mind when you're planning your drive, arranging childcare, or taking time off work.
Even during normal visiting hours, DWCC won't admit anyone between 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Show up during that half-hour and you'll wait until admissions reopen. There's also a hard cutoff at the end of the day: no visits can start after 3:00 p.m. To avoid a wasted trip, arrive well before the 11:00 a.m. blackout (or after 11:30 a.m.) and treat 3:00 p.m. as your latest possible start time - not 4:00 p.m.
Who to Bring and Gate ID
- ✓ Bring a photo ID if you’re 18 or older (accepted forms include a state driver’s license, state photo ID, active-duty military photo ID, or a passport).
- ✓ Make sure you’re approved to visit before you go: prospective visitors must complete an Application for Visiting Privileges (Form C-02-008-A) and mail it to the facility.
- ✓ Don’t fax the visiting application - faxed applications are not accepted.
- ✓ Confirm the imprisoned person has your information correct on the application (name, address, date of birth, race, and sex), since the offender is responsible for providing the correct visitor information and sending the application to the people they want to visit.
If the person you want to see is in intake status (generally the first 30 days), visits aren't allowed during that period. If intake extends beyond 30 days, the offender can request a special visit.
David Wade Correctional Center is located at 670 Bell Hill Road, Homer, LA 71040. When mapping your route, build in enough buffer to arrive outside the 11:00–11:30 a.m. blackout and early enough to start your visit before the 3:00 p.m. cutoff.
Searches at entry: All visitors - including minors - can be searched, along with their property and vehicle. Staff may use metal detectors, ion scanning, or K-9 units. Refuse a search and you'll be denied entry. If you refuse during a visit, it ends immediately.
